Two days after Dana White announced that Brock Lesnar was badly ill and will not be able to defend his UFC heavyweight title anytime soon, Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira has pulled out of his fight with Cain Velasquez, which was to take place on January 2, 2010 at UFC 108. The light heavyweight fight between Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva has become the main event of UFC 108.

It has been reported that Shane Carwin, who was scheduled to fight Brock Lesnar at UFC 106, has been hampered by injury as well. The UFC’s heavyweight division has been left in complete upheaval because of fighter injuries. There seems to be three fighters in the UFC interim heavyweight title picture – Shane Carwin, Cain Velasquez, and Minotauro Nogueira. The first step in settling the upheaval may be a fight between Cain Velasquez and whichever fighter, between Carwin and Nogueira, can get healthy first. Having that fight for the interim title would be the first step in bringing clarity back to the division.
